French Nuclear Waste Train Leaves For Germany

It was a miniature D-Day for Anti-Nuclear protesters battling against riot police on Wednesday at Normandy.

And the reason behind the protests?
A train carrying treated nuclear waste from France back to Germany left nuclear giant Areva's rail yard in northwestern France on Wednesday despite fierce protests. Riot police battled hundreds of anti-nuclear protesters who delayed the departure of the train, the last returning waste to Germany, which has said it will abandon nuclear power in the wake of the Fukushima disaster.
There have been a growing anti-nuclear movement ever since the Fukushima disaster in Europe and with Germany announcing they will shut down their nuclear reactors by 2022 now also French politics are suggesting the same. France have the largest number of nuclear reactors in the eurozone with 54 nuclear reactors. On the table is that 24 of the 58 nuclear reactors would be shut down before 2025.

With the situation not getting any better at the Fukushima plant, with the twitters from TEPCO workers are now showing that there is not much they can do to the damaged reactors anymore. They can't even enter the reactor building number 3 and do anything to the reactor unit that blew up back in March 2011 because of the radiation that is to high for humans. The workers there are at the damaged plant now only maintain the pumps and electricity to the plant with no plan to actually get the situation under control. In the wake of Chernobyl and Fukushima along with many small nuclear disasters over the years politics and people are more and more starting to wake up to the fact that nuclear power is not under human control. And when things goes wrong the possibility for rendering whole countries useless for living are frightening. Protests are growing not only in Japan but also all over the world. All along the nuclear supporters claim that there are no other choice that we need nuclear power to sustain our living. However looking at Germany and how they have over the years helped with investments to residents in form of solar panels and alternative energy sources the fact of the matter is that most houses fitted with solar panels in Germany are almost self sustaining in their energy demands. It seems that Germany really do have a plan to really get away from nuclear energy without any of the downsides of nuclear power. I just hope the media would actually bring forth the plan Germany have instead of spreading the lies about Germany digging their own grave and causing more CO2 emissions when they abandon nuclear power. Last I checked solar panels don't spew out CO2.

French police have battled anti-nuclear protesters as the last train carrying German nuclear waste treated in France set off on its journey home.

A mobile police canteen was set on fire by demonstrators on Wednesday and at least three people were hurt, two protesters and a riot officer.

Japanese urge "farewell" to nuclear power six months after quake

TOKYO, Sept 19 (Reuters) - Sixty thousand protesters gathered in central Tokyo on Monday demanding an end to Japan's reliance on nuclear power, six month's after the world's worst nuclear accident in 25 years.

Japan has banned people from within 20 km (12 miles) of the Fukushima Daiichi plant in northeast Japan, which had its reactor cooling systems knocked out by an earthquake and tsunami on March 11, triggering meltdowns.

Some 80,000 people have been evacuated from the area around the plant, which is still leaking radiation, in the world's worst nuclear crisis since Chernobyl in 1986 which prompted the government to rethink its energy policy.

The protest leaders, including 1994 Nobel-prize winner Kenzaburo Oe and musician Ryuichi Sakamoto, called the rally "Goodbye to Nuclear Power Plants".

"Now is the only moment to really change nuclear policy and this is the best time to act," said Satoe Sakai, 39, who travelled from the central city of Osaka to join the rally.

"If we don't stop it now, we probably never will."

Former Prime Minister Naoto Kan told Japan's Kyodo News that he had learned that around 30 million people in Tokyo and surrounding prefectures might have had to have been evacuated in a worst-case scenario.

"It was a crucial moment when I wasn't sure whether Japan could continue to function as a state," Kyodo quoted him as saying at the weekend.

Kan had said earlier that Japan had no choice but to reduce its reliance on nuclear power over time. But he stopped short of calling for a complete phasing out of nuclear power, which before the crisis accounted for about 30 percent of Japan's electricity supply.

Many of the protesters in Tokyo on Monday were from Fukushima.

"We, the people of Fukushima, do not see nuclear radiation of course and we can't smell it," said resident Yoshiharu Saito. "But we have no doubt it is spreading." (Reporting by Olivier Fabre and Mio Coxon; Writing by Mariko Katsumura and Nick Macfie)

With the Fukushima disaster still ongoing and not getting any better for months now, activists in Tokyo are enraged with how the government and TEPCO for not dealing with the situation. With reports of children getting nosebleeds, asthma and people feeling numb for no reason the public is more and more starting to doubt the official story that everything is under control.

What most people don't realize is that the number 3 reactor unit that blew was a MOX fuel reactor. Meaning this reactor did not only have Uranium for fuel but also Plutonium.. Weapons-Grade Plutonium that is mixed into the fuel rods. With that we are not only getting high levels of radiation polutning the sea but also the air. With the Jetstream carrying the Weapons-Grade Plutonium over the Pacific Ocean to the US within days. University of California, Berkeley already have detected Plutonium in soil test around California. The name plutonium is derived from the name of the dwarf planet Pluto. Pluto is the Roman god of darkness and the underworld. It's a fitting name for the most evil and deadly element on this planet.
