☢ [2017] Chinese Embassy Issue Radiation Warning ☢

The Chinese Embassy in Japan have issued a radiation warning over Fukushima radiation last Sunday, February 2017 causing some panic in China. But in Japan, everything went on normally, tourists and residents remain largely unaffected by the radiation matter.

In recent years, as the popularity of Japan as a tourist destination increases, Chinese people have
developed a love-hate relationship with their neighbor. Any political rift or societal change between the two countries can cause large-scale effects

Fukushima China Syndrome
Fukushima China Syndrome
An update of an old issue in Japan has sent ripples across the East China Sea to shake China. After Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) announced it's latest analysis of the inside of its crippled nuclear plant in Fukushima that showed the radiation level there has seemingly now risen from 73 sieverts per hour to 530 sieverts.

A lethal radiation dose is considered to be around 10 sieverts exposure for only a few minutes! With a slow death to follow from radiation sickness..

However the news of Fukushimas deadly 530 sievert radiation record that might I add puts the 1986 Chernobyl disaster to shame have been traveling fast on the Chinese Internet.

Last Sunday, the Chinese Embassy in Japan issued a safety warning in reaction to this announcement, telling Chinese citizens to manage their travel plans to avoid potential radiation risks that may come if nuclear material leaks out into the surrounding environment. The warning caused even more discussion and when rumors started spreading, many Chinese became worried, some even canceling their trips to Japan.

Business as usual

A couple of weeks after the news came out, people in Japan seemed as calm and reserved as ever. There are still many Chinese tourists on the streets and in shops. According to Chinese tourism agencies, their business has been basically unaffected.

The director of a large Chinese travel agency told the Global Times last Sunday that Fukushima wasn't a regular travel destination for Chinese tourists anyway, and the company doesn't offer any travel packages there.

Li Dan, manager of a branch of the Beijing-based Tianping International Travel Agency, said that there haven't been any tour groups traveling to Fukushima since the 2011 earthquake and resulting tsunami. She also said that even tourists who travel independently do not usually go to Fukushima.

Last week, Will Davis, a member of the American Nuclear Society, refuted claims that radiation levels are soaring at the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant as "demonstrably false." In a post on the society's blog, Davis wrote that the readings have not changed and that TEPCO's reported 530 sieverts per hour estimate was not "unimaginable" or particularly worrying.

His argument is that rather than a real increase from 73 to 530 sieverts, the 530 reading is simply a more accurate estimate of the radiation level at a particularly affected area that has remained relatively unchanged over the past few years.

Compared with China, news of the radiation levels in Fukushima has not generated much discussion in Japan. The responses from the media or public to the Chinese safety alert are also few.

For people living in Tokyo, three hours' drive from Fukushima, life has continued as usual. While they feel a little concerned whenever such reports come out, they are not actively worried in their daily lives, several Japanese white-collar workers said.

For people trying to get their lives back to normal in the affected area, their biggest headache and frustration is the bad reputation and rumors that dog their agricultural products.

In supermarkets, consumers who are concerned about radiation contamination choose more expensive products from different areas over cheaper product from Fukushima. Local residents, NGOs and governments are still working to scrub the stain off the reputation of food produced in Fukushima.

"I am concerned about the long-term effects on our bodies," said Zhang Chen, a sociology student at Sophia University of Tokyo. "Even if they were to call off the alert, I would still be worried." Despite these concerns, she said she would continue to stay in Tokyo for the time being and try finding a job in Japan.

Meanwhile, several Chinese residents in Japan the Global Times interviewed expressed their faith that the Japanese government and media would keep people accurately updated on the Fukushima situation and any potential dangers.

Zhao Xue, a Chinese woman who works for a Japanese company in Tokyo told the Global Times she hasn't seen much focus in the newspaper headlines concerning this matter, the big stories recently are Trump and Toshiba's financial problems.

"Why would we panic over something like this? It's an updated version of old news," she said.

Others said as long as one stays out of the evacuation areas the Japanese government designated around the nuclear power plant, one has nothing to worry about. Besides, Tokyo is more than 300 kilometers from Fukushima and as so little radiation can reach there, there's nothing much to do besides go on with one's daily life.

☢ When Sea Monsters Wash Ashore ☢

The beast likely weighed 150 - 200 pounds and around 24 feet long when it was alive, said Annie MacAulay, a marine biologist and president of Mountain and Sea Educational Adventures, who dissected it Monday.

The one found Monday had an empty pocket in its stomach, which MacAulay said could mean it recently stopped eating, a potential sign of distress or sickness.

Stunned Scientific Guesswork.. Sick, Disoriented, Distress, underwater seismic activity.. Let me guess..
Scientists have guessed that a handful of oarfish that have washed up on California’s coasts in recent years were sick, disoriented because of a storm or even responding to underwater seismic activity.

Below is a few headlines found at enenews covering the scientific mystery for marine biologist
Post can be found here https://enenews.com/unbelievable-scientists-stunned-3-rare-giant-oarfish-found-dead-recent-weeks-california-flesh-falling-apart-body-parts-missing-biologist-course-im-very-concerned-reason-theyre-dying-being-tes

Please note that bluetick on enenews also commented on the mystery having 30 years of experience:
i find it interesting after being on the water fishing for 30+ years that nothing in a starving ocean ate so much as even a nibble off of the huge fish…in most cases i can toss a bait fish over board and its gone in a couple mins at most. maybe just a fluke or maybe a dieing ocean….maybe they dont taste good…
Los Angeles Times, Aug 17, 2015 (emphasis added): Biggest oarfish seen at Catalina Island in years washes ashore… marking a rare sighting of the deep-sea creature… [It] was 24 feet long when it was alive, said Annie MacAulay, a marine biologist… its tail [was] severed off — which oarfish have been known to do to shed weight and save energy, she said… The one found Monday had an empty pocket in its stomach, which MacAulay said could mean it recently stopped eating, a potential sign of distress or sickness… a handful of oarfish [have] washed up on California’s coasts in recent years.

New York Daily News, Aug 17, 2015: Stunned scientists fished for clues Monday to explain the origin of the giant oarfish that washed up on the shores of Catalina — the third massive marine oarfish found on the island in two years’ time [see articles below for additional finds]… The sleek silver fish was missing its pectoral fins and tail… perplexed researchers are looking for a reason why. Dr. Misty Paig-Tran from California State University Fullerton collected tissue samples… to determine whether it had any toxins in its system. But questions still remain as to why these fish are dying… The conservationist also speculated that water pollution could be to blame.

OC Register, Aug 19, 2015: This is the third oarfish to be documented on the island [since] 2013… MacAulay said the animal didn’t come to shore because of an illness or shark attack. When she dissected the fish, she discovered a belly full of krill… “It’s very strange, and the other one in June was the same,” she said.

Gazettes (Long Beach), Aug 19, 2015: MacAulay said this is the third such creature to wash up on the island in the past two years…. Before then, MacAulay said she isn’t aware of any others… … Sightings are extremely rare. Those that come near the shore are usually distressed.

AP, Aug 19, 2015: Residents of Santa Catalina Island have found a second sea monster on their shores in just three months… {MacAulay] says to see two in a three-month period after never seeing one her entire career is incredibly exciting.

Mountain and Sea Educational Adventures, Aug 17, 2015: Unbelievable! The second oarfish that we found washed up on the shores of Catalina Island.
MacAulay: “You’re lucky to see one oarfish in your lifetime, so to see 2 within 3 months… I’ve been working on this island for 17 years and I had never seen any until June.”
MacAulay: “I’ve been working here for more than 20 years out on the water and I’ve never seen one… three have been found so recently… it is sad.”
MacAulay: “It’s so unusual that all these years I don’t see any oarfish, and then have seen two in the last few months.”
MacAulay: “To see two of them in a three-month period when I’ve been working on the island for 20 years and in marine biology for almost 30 years… of course (I’m) very concerned because… for some reason they’re dying.”

San Diego Reader, Jun 30, 2015: First-ever oarfish caught on rod… That it was in shallow water for an oarfish gives the implication that it was unhealthy… crew tried to gaff and raise the 20-foot fish to the boat. The soft flesh only tore, and they had to give up…

Pete Thomas Outdoors, Jul 8, 2015: The bizarre catch… was snagged and barely alive… a crewman attempted to collect it with a gaff, but the flesh was too soft for the gaff to hold… for some reason Catalina has become a hot spot for sightings.

Bruce Smith, captain of sport fishing boat, Jun 29, 2015: “We caught an oarfish… at Catalina… in shallow water like 5 fathoms [30 feet]… It was pretty much dead… I know they washed up on the beach here a couple times… It was very surprising, it’s a once in lifetime thing.”

Los Angeles Times, Jun 3, 2015: Rare oarfish found dead on Catalina… The first sighting of a live oarfish was only recorded 2001, when one was caught on film by the U.S. Navy…

Los Angeles Times, Oct 10, 2013: 2 giant oarfish wash onto California coast, making scientists curious — It’s been the week of the oarfish along the Southern California coast. A 14-foot oarfish carcass was discovered Friday by a snorkeler off the beach in Oceanside. Earlier in the week, an 18-foot oarfish was found dead off Catalina Island.

8 Year Old Keiko Survived Nuclear War - 70 Years Since

Keiko Ogura felt the explosion of the world's first atomic bomb in her own body. She tells her story so that no one else ever should have to go through the same thing.

Keiko didn't go to school on August 6 with the other students because her father felt that something bad was about to happen that day. I was unhappy as all my classmates had gone, she recalls. She had celebrated her 8th birthday two days before.

I remember everything clearly as if it had happened yesterday. I stood on the street near our house when a blinding flash suddenly appeared in the sky. I was thrown to the ground and lost consciousness, says Keiko Ogura on the phone from Hiroshima where she has lived all her life. Keiko was a second grade elementary school student, the bomb exploded at 8.15 a.m.

She does not know how long she was unconscious, but when she woke up the whole world was black and from the sky came a black rain. I couldn’t breathe, couldn’t stand, there was debris falling on me and all over and I couldn’t hear anything.

“When I went home, it was smashed and some of it had blown up, I could see the ceiling and tiles gone and hundreds of pieces of window glass on the wall. My father was lucky. He was between the open glass doors and the pantry and he was alright. My sister and brother were bleeding from the head, but it wasn’t serious. When I stepped out, I saw black rain, what’s this I thought - it was charcoal colour and it was very sticky and I touched it,” she narrates.

There was a complete calm around. The house was 2.4 kilometers from the place where the atomic bomb was dropped. I strongly remember all the terrible smells that hovered in the air during the following days. At first there was the smell of burnt hair which was then mixed with the smell of burned bodies.

Near our home was a Shinto shrine that was made to a first aid station. Therefore it came injured people to our area and I saw hundreds of sick and dying people. They were walking like ghosts. I only saw dark figures who stretched out their arms and legs. Many people's skin was severely burned.

The family miraculously survived

Keiko saw how skin hung from human body parts and especially from the fingers. They were swollen due to radiation damage.

Some people were completely soaked in black rain and developed health complications and diseases. Some foreigners died. 25,000 including Koreans, Chinese, Japanese, Americans, foreign students and around 10 American prisoners. It was one of the reasons Hiroshima was chosen - it had few prisoners at that time in the city, she says.

It was horrible

“In Ushita where I lived, each home was an air raid shelter. Usually in the mornings there is an air raid warning but on that day August 6, 1945, there was a warning but no air raid.” Strangely, the night before, Keiko says people couldn’t sleep as they kept going in and out of air raid shelters after the sirens kept blaring. B-29s appeared above Hiroshima accompanied by air raid sirens. “We went home and tried to sleep. All the time we kept wondering why no air raid despite the siren. On August 6 there was one air raid warning. We thought Hiroshima would be skipped. We had heard that Tokyo and Kobe were destroyed, maybe God decided to spare our city. That morning people didn’t worry why there was a warning and no raid,” she says.

It was a miracle her own family got saved. No family member died that day 70 years ago when an unprecedented terror spread out over the world.

Keiko's father began working at the crematoria in which the bodies were burned. He burned hundreds of bodies the days after the atomic bomb fell.

“After the bombing, everyday someone died, they didn’t have any scars but they died, we were wondering if it was poison gas, we didn’t know then that it was radiation,” she says. Now the survivors “the hibakusha” as they are called, fall into four categories. Keiko says those who helped in cremating bodies also became sick. “Everyday I saw lines at the cemetery, of people to be buried and we wondered who would be next. One of my friend’s who was living out of the city, was exposed to radiation when she came here and fell sick and her younger brother died after a six-hour exposure in Hiroshima."

People told me that all of Hiroshima had been destroyed. Our own house was full of broken glass but the walls were still standing.

A few days after Keiko began to do short trips to the horrific battlefield.

When someone died, we said that they died of "the light"

A special memory from the day after

“There was a bad smell, their hair and flesh were burnt and they were lying down, squatting and suddenly someone grabbed my ankle, and asked for water. Till then everyone was silent but suddenly there was a cry for mizu or water. Some thanked me after I got water for them but to my horror some died. It is said that people shouldn’t be given water when in shock, but I didn’t know that as a little girl. I ran home and got it from the well. I was shocked and I thought there was some poison. My father said you shouldn’t give people water and I kept silent. Keiko thought she killed people by giving them water. She was so scared that she did not tell anyone about the water until decades later, when her father had passed away. That became my trauma. I had nightmares and I cried. It took me a long time to recover,” she explains.

Typical symptoms of radiation injuries include high fever, loss of appetite, bleeding and hair loss. Keiko had almost no symptoms at all except that she got nosebleeds.

I could not connect the bleeding with the atomic bomb until decades later, when I heard that it was common among the children who lived near the area affected by the nuclear disaster at Fukushima.

She also suffered from anemia, but otherwise her health has been good.

But the most fearful thing for her was that babies were born with deformities, with microcephaly or small heads. Keiko later met a girl in her forties who was like a three-year-old. She wouldn’t say anything and watched TV all day, and could recognise only the faces of movie stars. People were worried about having handicapped children.

Many children died, many were orphaned or maimed. By the end of 1945, the number of dead had risen to 140,000,” she adds.

Her brother was behind Hiroshima station working to break down houses and clear fire lanes among the debris. He and others had heard the sound of the airplane - there were three planes - but from one he saw a tiny black thing (the Americans called it Little Boy) that was released. As the planes turned, the black dot exploded and they were all thrown to the ground unconscious. “There were people lying on the ground all over and my brother’s classmate was so severely burnt that he took off his shirt and all of them had severe burns as they tried to go home. There were so many dead bodies on the road. He decided to climb up the hill and go another way to avoid the bodies. My brother said the cloud was like ice cream, and he saw the whole city destroyed. It was my brother who came and told us the whole city was burnt,” Keiko says.

We did not understand what had happened. No one spoke to us about the atomic bomb. We thought that tens or hundreds of bombs were detonated. Only much later did we realize that our city had been destroyed by the force of a single bomb.

Right after the bombing, the question was how to overcome it and not think of revenge, she says. There was nothing to eat, everyday was so hard, everyday people died. “Right after the bomb our thoughts were - how could we overcome it? What can we eat? Nothing was there. Some vegetables and rice. We caught grasshoppers or insects and ate them after cooking. Everyday was so hard and we were so afraid of dying.”

Shame joins Hiroshima and Fukushima

Many so-called "hibakushas", those who survived the atomic bomb, has for decades kept secret where they were when the bomb detonated.

We were afraid of discrimination. For example, no one wanted to marry someone who had been near the site where the bomb struck. Maybe one feared that there would be something wrong with the descendants, the now 78-year-old Keiko wonders.

Survivors are seemingly okay but get easily tired, didn’t have 100 per cent energy. We used to think survivors are lazy, they catch a cold easily, develop stomach ache, she says. “People are worried about getting married or getting jobs. The first thing I was asked by a young man from Tokyo whether I was from Hiroshima and exposed to radiation. There was denial too. Most people didn’t want to admit to being survivors, “she points out.

Keiko says she was also stunned by the accident at the Fukushima nuclear power plant in 2011.

The people in Fukushima have the same fate as us. People are afraid of them and they are discriminated against in Japanese society. People begin to distort the truth, telling lies about the past and keeping secrets about disabled children who are born.

Photo: Keiko Ogura
Keiko Ogura - Photo: Keiko Ogura

Because the atomic bomb have so much association with secrecy and shame, Keiko Ogura have decided to tell her own story to the world. She has devoted her life to preserving the historical memory and are grateful to all who would listen to her story.

“Survivors at first hated America, especially the President of the USA for ordering the bombing, but there was guilt too that we couldn’t save our children. There was always regret. Why did I survive many people wondered but later we felt hope when elementary school children visited us and wanted to hear our stories. For the first time, people felt hope that they had survived. There was a feeling that before we all died our stories would be told to the world,” she adds.

She tells of the shock when she heard that the United States continued it's nuclear tests at Bikini Atoll in the Pacific Ocean even in the 1950s. There, began her work for peace.

Among other things, Keiko founded a small group of hibakushas, the Hiroshima Interpreters for Peace, who tries to explain to the world what happened in Hiroshima 70 years ago.

So that no one should have to experience the same thing.

Keiko confessed that the people she loved most in the world were teachers and the media. “They conveyed our stories. One time I was on TV and my son’s friend said he didn’t know I was a survivor. The only time I didn’t like the media was when I went to the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. in 2003. I was supposed to work as an interpreter. I started to cry. I didn’t want to see the Enola Gay, the B-29 which dropped the bomb. They took pictures of me crying and everyone in Japan saw it,” she says regretfully.

That’s the dilemma of the survivors. Without staying on the story, the world wouldn’t be better but then they will be identified as survivors. Keiko, like other survivors, was afraid of the stigma but she was clear on one thing - “If we think of revenge, the world will be unhappy. This is my message.”

Radiation From Cumbrian Nuclear-Plant Found in Food

"There is no safe level of radiation. Nuclear technology... poses an ongoing threat to public health."
There is no safe level of radiation
The Daily Mail reports that Radiation released from the Cumbrian Nuclear Plant have been found 80 miles away across the border. Traces of radiation were found in fruit, potatoes and vegetables near to Dounreay nuclear power station in Caithness, in the far north-east of Scotland

Nuclear waste released from the Cumbrian reprocessing site has made fish and shellfish caught off the Dumfriesshire coast slightly radioactive.

And fish-fans in Dumfriesshire have the highest exposure to nuclear radiation of anyone north of the Border.
Despite Sellafield nuclear station being situated 80 miles away, the new report reveals that the nuclear power station is still having an impact on Scotland.

And although the levels are within safe EU limits, Sellafield and Scottish nuclear power stations have infiltrated the food chain here.

Dr Richard Dixon, director of Friends of the Earth Scotland, said: "There is no safe level of radiation. Nuclear technology... poses an ongoing threat to public health."

Traces of radiation were found in fruit, potatoes and vegetables near to Dounreay nuclear power station in Caithness, in the far north-east of Scotland.

Whilst in Chapelcross, in Dumfriesshire, nuclear radiation has made its way into the milk.

Where as at Faslane, near Helensburgh, Dunbartonshire, the destination of Britain's nuclear submarines where liquid radioactive waste is discharged into the Gareloch, beef has been revealed to contain a small amount of radiation.

The Radioactivity in Food and the Environment (RIFE) report by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (Sepa)- the Environment Agency and the Food Standards Agency (FSA) - has revealed the true extent of radiation exposure in the new report.

A spokesman for the FSA in Scotland said: "There are low levels of radiation present naturally in the environment.

"Then there are nuclear sites which discharge material as an aerial discharge into the air or liquid discharge into the sea. The discharge from the sea is more likely to affect fish and aerial discharge will get into the land.
"These are, however, very small levels of no concern to anybody."

The findings also reveal the type of person likely to have been exposed to the highest dose of radioactivity in 2013 and showed that in Scotland, those susceptible to the highest dose would be an adult eating fish caught off Dumfriesshire.

They would have consumed 0.44 MILLISIEVERTs - around 4 per cent of the EU safe limit, whilst close to Dounreay adults who consume green vegetables will get the most radiation.

The unborn children of pregnant women living within 550 yards of the Hunterston B site, in North Ayrshire - one of Scotland's two working nuclear power stations -would received the highest dose there.

Dr Richard Dixon, director of Friends of the Earth Scotland, said: "There is no safe level of radiation. Nuclear technology... poses an ongoing threat to public health."

A spokesman for Dounreay Site Restoration said: "The levels of radioactivity found in the vicinity of Dounreay are within the limits laid down in law."

A Scottish Government spokesman said: "There are stringent regulatory regimes in place for protecting the public and the environment from radiation."

The 2014 RIFE Report show doses received by members of the public living near sites, and across Scotland, were well within legal dose limits."

It should be made clear that after Fukushima the EU and US raised the maximum legal radiation dose limit.

From https://www.activistpost.com/2011/04/eu-follows-epa-raises-acceptable.html

In the US according to PEER (Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility, the new standards would result in a “nearly 1000-fold increase for exposure to strontium-90, a 3000 to 100,000-fold hike for exposure to iodine-131; and an almost 25,000 rise for exposure to radioactive nickel-63” in drinking water.

EU ordinance 297/2011 raises the Maximum Levels of radiation and radioactive isotopes for food and feed to rather serious levels. In some cases, such as the case of Cesium-134 and Cesium-137, the levels are actually twice the amount of previously acceptable levels. Many of these increases are allowed in products such as infant formula and baby foods.

It should be noted that so far the new EU changes only apply to food imported from Japan. The justification behind this is that in the event of a nuclear emergency the traditional levels of acceptable radiation should be ignored so as not to cause a food shortage as a result of legal constraints.

Steam Event - Something Very Wrong at Fukushima

There is a heavy steam event taking place at Fukshima reactor building 4 at this very moment!

The livecam closest to the reactor building 4 is the only one that display the steam event taking place. The JNN livecam is currently offline showing a "green screen" and the Futaba traffic cam is not picking up anything. And the other livecam showing reactor buildings 1 and 2 does not pick up anything but a little bit of the ongoing radioactive releases.

The forecast for the next few days and weeks for people living in the Northern Hemisphere will be radioactive rain with a tad of sunshine and airborne radiation.

And remember scientists say one medium banana packs about 422 milligrams of potassium, about 11 percent of the 4,700 milligrams adults should aim to get daily. So don't go eating any bananas this week, the added potassium could kill you! That will be all for today's radioactive news.

How Many Bananas Do You Need To Eat To Get a Metallic Taste In Your Mouth?

The USS Ronald Reagan was only a mile away from the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant and became contaminated with radiation during the Fukushima Disaster 2011. Since then many of the sailors have become ill and are showing Radiation Sickness.

How in the world can a state of the art ship that was made to withstand battle not even protect the crew against radiation. USS Ronald Reagan was sitting in a nuclear plume for five plus hours, how is it possible that they suck up nuclear contaminated waste into the water filtration system and think for one minute that there’s no health risk to the sailors!

"Lindsay Cooper who was on the deck, it started to snow and then she tasted this metallic taste in her mouth, and so did the others."

The USS Ronald Reagan crew show signs of Radiation Sickness, Radiation Madness, Radiation Burns, all from the fallout from Fukushima. But no doctors will admit to it, and they are left outside of the system. All along "Nuclear Experts" are saying everything is fine, dont worry!

Could it be that they have been all deceived by bananas?

There seems to be a lot of "Nuclear Experts" around these days that say the radiation you get from eating bananas is equal to man made Radioactive Uranium and Plutonium waste. Tim Worstall said so, he even goes on to say that we all now can run our Nuclear Reactors on bananas! That and "The Fukushima Nuclear Disaster Will Kill No One"..

You can look for yourself, here's his article on Forbes!

Tim Worstall said we can run our Nuclear Reactors on bananas!
Tim Worstall Go Bananas over Fukushima

So how many bananas do you need to eat to get a metallic taste in your mouth?

"One medium banana packs about 422 milligrams of potassium, about 11 percent of the 4,700 milligrams adults should aim to get daily."

Could it really be that the human body and most living things on earth can handle potassium!

Voice of Russia – US Edition, AUDIO Jan. 15, 2014:

At 7:30 in

Paul C. Garner, attorney for Navy sailors exposed to Fukushima radioactive contamination: They’re out there in the elements breathing it in, soaking it in. According to Lindsay Cooper who was on the deck, it started to snow and then she tasted this metallic taste in her mouth, and so did the others. And they were having snow ball fights and joking around about it, until they were warned that it was radioactive and they should not be doing that.

At 9:45 in

Garner: They were considered to be too highly radioactive [...] The Reagan sailed around for weeks before they could find a friendly port to land in. By that time the people on board were pretty well toast. And the Reagan itself became contaminated. After that the Reagan spent a year and half in Bremerton, Washington for what they considered to be routine maintenance, but it was anything but routine. They decontaminated the vessel as best they could, and they shipped the contaminated debris over to Hanford.

[IMAGE] The Ocean Is Dead Because of Fukushima

The Ivan Macfadyen's story about him sailing from Melbourne to Osaka on to San Francisco and seeing a dead ocean in horror at the severe lack of marine life have been going viral now. In the 28 days it took to get to Japan, he caught just two fish. No fish. No birds. Hardly a sign of life at all. Several news outlets have picked up the story. But they all seem to have left out the reason.

His boat had a vivid yellow paint job that never faded by sun or sea in years gone past. But now reacted with something in the waters off Japan, losing its sheen in a strange and unprecedented way.

Not likely to be tsunami-related, which would have been transported far from Japan's coast by now.

"After we left Japan, it felt as if the ocean itself was dead," Macfadyen said.

We hardly saw any living things. We saw one whale, sort of rolling helplessly on the surface with what looked like a big tumour on its head. It was pretty sickening.

Macfadyen have now signed up to fill in daily survey forms and collect samples for radiation testing by US academics. Radiation contamination is a significant concern in the wake of the tsunami and consequent nuclear power station failure in Japan.

Sailor's Discovery - The Ocean Is Dead Because of Fukushima Corium Polluting Fish in Pacific with Radiation

Takashi Hirose is the author of Fukushima Meltdown: The World’s First Earthquake-Tsunami-Nuclear Disaster (2011)

A Letter to All Young Athletes Who Dream of Coming to Tokyo in 2020, and to Their Coaches and Parents:

On 7 September, 2013 Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said to the 125th session of the International Olympic Committee, the following: Some may have concerns about Fukushima. Let me assure you, the situation is under control. It has never done and will never do any damage to Tokyo.

This will surely be remembered as one of the great lies of modern times. In Japan some people call it the “Abesolute Lie”. Believing it, the IOC decided to bring the 2020 Olympics to Tokyo. Japanese government spokespersons defend Abe’s statement by saying that radiation levels in the Pacific Ocean have not yet exceeded safety standards.

This recalls the old story of the man who jumped off a ten-storey building and, as he passed each storey, could be heard saying, “So far, so good”. We are talking, remember, about the Pacific Ocean – the greatest body of water on earth, and for all we know, in the universe.

Tokyo Electric Power Company – TEPCO – has been pouring water through its melted-down reactor at Fukushima and into the ocean for two and a half years, and so far the Pacific Ocean has been able to dilute that down to below the safety standard. So far so good. But there is no prospect in sight of turning off the water. Here are eight things you need to know.

1.

In a residential area park in Tokyo, 230 km from Fukushima, the soil was found to have a radiation level of 92,335 Becquerels per square meter. This is a dangerous level, comparable to what is found around Chernobyl 4 zone (the site of a nuclear catastrophe in 1986). One reason this level of pollution is found in the capital is that between Tokyo and

Fukushima there are no mountains high enough to block radioactive clouds. In the capital people who understand the danger absolutely avoid eating food produced in eastern Japan.

2.

Inside Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Reactors #1 - #3 the pipes (which had circulated cooling water) are broken, which caused a meltdown. This means the nuclear fuel overheated, melted, and continued to melt anything it touched. Thus it melted through the bottom of the reactor, and then through the concrete floor of the building, and sank into the ground. As mentioned above, for two and a half years TEPCO workers have been desperately pouring water into the reactor, but it is not known whether the water is actually reaching the melted fuel.

BORAX Experiments were destructive testing of boiling water reactors conducted by Argonne National Laboratory in the 1950s and 1960s. The left picture display Borax Reactor Explosion the Right Picture Fukushima Reactor Unit 3

If a middle-strength earthquake comes, it is likely to destroy totally the already damaged building. And as a matter of fact, in the last two and a half years earthquakes have continued to hit Fukushima. (And as an additional matter of fact, just as this letter was being written Fukushima was hit by another middle-strength earthquake, but it seems that the building held up one more time.So far so good.) Especially dangerous is Reactor #4, where a large amount of nuclear fuel is being held in a pool, like another disaster waiting for its moment.

3.

The cooling water being poured into the reactor is now considered the big problem in Japan. Newspapers and TV stations that previously strove to conceal the danger of nuclear power, are now reporting on this danger every day, and criticizing Shinzo Abe for the lie he told the IOC. The issue is that the highly irradiated and contaminated radioactive water is entering and mixing with the ground water, and this leakage can’t be stopped, so it is spilling into the outer ocean. It is a situation impossible to control.

In August, 2013 (the month prior to Abe’s IOC speech) within the site of Fukushima Daiichi Reactor, radiation was measured at 8500 micro Sieverts per hour. That is enough to kill anyone who stayed there for a month. This makes it a very hard place for the workers to get anything done.

In Ohkuma-machi, the town where the Daiichi Nuclear Reactor is located, the radiation was measured in July, 2013 (two months before Abe’stalk) at 320 micro Sieverts per hour. This level of radiation would kill a person in two and a half years. Thus, over an area many kilometers wide, ghost towns are increasing.

4.

Dead Whale In Tokyo Bay after Fukushima Disaster
Dead Whale In Tokyo Bay after Fukushima
For the sake of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, an important fact has been left out from reports that go abroad. Only the fact that irradiated water is leaking onto the surface of the ground around the reactor is reported.

But deep under the surface the ground water is also being irradiated, and the ground water flows out to sea and mixes with the seawater through fresh water springs under the sea. It is too late to do anything about this.

5.

If you go to the big central fish market near Tokyo and measure the radiation in the air, it registers at about 0.05 micro Sieverts – a little higher than normal level. But if you measure the radiation near the place where the instrument that measures the radiation of the fish is located, the level is two or three times greater (2013 measurement).

Japan Children eating what we call low level radioactive waste
Japan Children eating what we call low level radioactive waste
Vegetables and fish from around the Tokyo area, even if they are irradiated, are not thrown away. This is because the level established by the Japanese Government for permissible radiation in food – which if exceeded the food must not be sold – is the same as the permissible level of radiation in low-level radioactive wastes. Which is to say, in Japan today, as the entire country has been contaminated, we have no choice but to put irradiated garbage on the dinner table. The distribution of irradiated food is also a problem.

Food from near Fukushima will be sent to another prefecture, and then sent on, relabeled as produced in the second prefecture. In particular, food distributed by the major food companies, and food served in expensive restaurants, is almost never tested for radiation.

6.

In Japan, the only radiation from Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Reactors that is being measured is the radioactive cesium. However large amounts of strontium 90 and tritium are spreading all over Japan. Strontium and tritium’s radiation consists of beta rays, and are very difficult to measure. However both are extremely dangerous: strontium can cause leukemia, and tritium can cause chromosome disorder.

7.

Radiation Readings Fukushima Japan
Radiation Readings Fukushima Japan
More dangerous still: in order, they say, to get rid of the pollution that has fallen over the wide area of Eastern Japan, they are scraping off the top layer of the soil, and putting it in plastic bags as garbage. Great mountains of these plastic bags, all weather-beaten, are sitting in fields in Eastern Japan subject of course to attack by heavy rain and typhoons. Eventually the plastic will split open and the contents will come spilling out. When that happens, there will be no place left to take them.

8.

On 21 September, 2013 (again, as this letter was being composed) the newspaper Tokyo Shimbun reported that Tokyo Governor Naoki Inose said at a press conference that what Abe expressed to the IOC was his intention to get the situation under control. “It is not,” Inose said, “under control now.”

It’s a sad story, but this is the present situation of Japan and of Tokyo. I had loved the Japanese food and this land until the Fukushima accident occurred. But now…

My best wishes for your health and long life.

After the findings of high levels of Fukushima radiation that David recorded and showed us during his flight with radiation readings as high as 945 CPM in the cabin (5 times the normal levels of atmospheric radiation levels for flights). David sent in a complaint to the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia. Well they now responded and David was kind enough to send it in so I could post it up here also.

Below is the full email from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia shown here with permission from David that he recieved. It is saved here as an image. And I'm also going to write down some of the text.

Extreme Radiation 945 CPM On Virgin Airlines Flight

Australia in flight radiation High 945 CPM Fallout Fukushima Airborne 737 Townsville to Brisbane
945 CPM Radiation Spikes in Flight over Australia
Thanks to David who took Radiation measurements during an domestic flight on a 737 going from Townsville to Brisbane on 8 Aug, 2013 we now have evidence that show that people flying are not only getting the normal dose of atmospheric background radiation when flying.

The extreme levels of radiation detected during the flight show us that the Fukushima disaster have reached way down to Australia now. And anyone flying is getting high doses of airborne radiation in various forms along with hot particles that are constantly released from the nuclear plant.

david sYou can watch all the in flight radiation videos on David's Channel on Youtube

With the radiation detector showing spikes of up to 945 CPM that are almost 5 times the normal exposure in the cabin during the flight it shows just how much fallout this nuclear disaster really have and still is producing.

Cabin air is normally filtered very well, however even so the high levels of radiation entering the cabin during high altitude flight still poses a grave danger to the health of passengers. There have been numerous reports of flight attendants having radiation sickness like symptoms these past years after Fukushima, but the delusion is so strong that the "regulators" and airlines have dismissed that there could be any connection to Fukushima at all.

Quoted from David
"Published on 8 Aug 2013
same flight town to bris 08.08.2013 inspector EXP highest read out was 945 CPM during mid flight this is a hazmat situation and all airlines are aware of this and are for all intent purposes criminal negligent on not informing the public and air crew of the dangers and at the very lest providing masks to mitigate in some small way the exposure! YES I'M MAD AS HELL that our government statutory agencies and departments are doing nothing ! time to get a lawyer and start the legal process !"

Quoted from David
"Published on 8 Aug 2013
how about this i wonder if all those frequent flyer politicians are breathing nice and heavy every time they get a flight at tax payers expense! this reading should be closer to 200 CPM not 929 CPM and max mid flight CPM was 945 thank god i had a activated disposable mask!"

Fukushima Unit 4 Welding Work Shown

Hi folks,

Fukushima Unit 4 Welding Illustration
Unit 4 workers welding illustration
Some of you who have been keeping an eye on Fukushima and the Live Cam they have, might have noticed that yesterday Tepco changed the angle of the camera. It's now located at the opposite side from where it was before with reactor unit 4 closest in view to the camera instead of unit 1.

I've been busy with other things lately so I didn't notice the work that was going on top of reactor unit 4. FC pointed out in the chat that there was flashes going on in the bottom right corner of the screen, and sure enough when I looked at the live cam there was even workers moving around there.

Here you can see an ILLUSTRATION showing the location where the welding work is being done on top of reactor unit 4. The actual flashes where much smaller than this illustration shows but the scale of the workers to the right is about the same.

I figure the flashes was caused by the workers welding some beams, that's what it looks like to me. I tell you they better weld in some support because that 60 Ton "cover" they put in place a month ago on top of the fuel pool to an already damaged structure is not going to help the building situation.

I'm sure you already have read about what happens when that fuel pool hits the ground in the event of an bigger earthquake. The contamination released would equate to some 800-1000 nuclear weapons going off all at once.

And I hope those workers where wearing gas masks because that steel is contaminated with all kinds of radioactive particles, welding always cause smoke and people doing it for a living need regular health checkups to check their lungs.. Add radiation to that smoke and it is not going to turn out good for the workers later on.

Now the camera angle like I told you earlier is different now from what it was when the livecam  first was put into place 2011. But we can still see all the reactor units and cranes working on the site. To explain the map, Unit 4 is in the right corner of the screen and we can see part of Unit 1 way back with Unit 2 blocking most of the view (Unit 1 is the white reactor unit because of the tent they put up).

I hope this Fukushima update have shed some light on the recent developments on site.

One year after Fukushima Audio Collection

Today a year has past since the Fukushima disaster, and in that time the earthquake activity in the area have gone up some 24 times from the recorded average in the area. 231 earthquakes above M4 have hit since the devastating earthquake with numerous M5 quakes recently centering in around Fukushima. Some of us look at the recent solar activity and solar storms and see a direct connection.

This don’t sound good for us that continually follow the ongoing Fukushima nuclear disaster. With real experts doing all they can to try and educate the masses and bring attention to the severity of this disaster as we get headlines like..

“If Unit 4 gets a crack from quakes and leaks, it would be the end for Tokyo.”

While I’m at it, describing to you how much earthquake activity has gone up (24 times). It will surprise some of you, probably living in caves somewhere.. That a few weeks ago the radiation levels reported in Tokyo, many parts of it, has in fact radioactive levels 25 times higher than the mandatory evacuation zones around Chernobyl!!

There is really a treat here. Still people don’t really care about. They do go on that everything is fine, like it’s already over. They draw parallels to Chernobyl and say, “look at that place, people still live there and are doing just fine..” It’s nothing new that TEPCO and the Japanese government have been less than forthcoming since the beginning of this disaster, lies upon lies.. Some don’t question but the Japanese people are getting more and more angry, and they know they are being told lies and half truths. The Japanese people are more and more opening their eyes and start to see TEPCO the clown with the curly hair and painted face denying everything saying it’s a “wardrobe malfunction”.

“Report: Records of human deformations and still births after Fukushima yet to be published”

In 1986 some magazines and pro-nuclear articles went out and said nuclear power is as safe as a chocolate factory, a few weeks later Chernobyl blew up. 25 years later, the movement and “educated” thinking among experts and the schooled children growing up after started to go back to normal. Normal being that nuclear power is cheap and safe, however this time the disaster was the greatest nuclear disaster in the history of the world, and it’s still going. Anyone who have the guts to look at a Chernobyl documentary and see how that nuclear disaster have affected the children would never say something like it’s safe and fine. It’s not fine, Fukushima is not fine, it’s not over, it’s ongoing.

Children in Fukushima stopped growing last year, it’s widely known and reported on by doctors in the area, children should not do that if there was nothing very wrong.
☢ Fukushima Radiation Sickness Symptoms Public Inability To Fight Illness Part1 ☢

Yet today a English documentary went on to say they are still unsure about the health effects on children. I guess they are still waiting for that report?

But that's not all, what about all the Radiation Sickness Symptoms showing up all over. Like people loosing hair, teeth and getting all kinds of illnesses. Watch this video of a High School teacher about how the radiation destroy her health. I know about 90% of the school teachers eat the same food they serve the children during the school day. Now what damage do you think this does to young children that are growing when it wrecks adults like this?

In March 2012 Yoichi Shimatsu talked about a young woman who had only traveled to Japan, what happened to her is disturbing to say the least. She had only been there a short period of time and ate the food.. Read more about that and listen to the Must Hear 2012 audio collection below.

Jeff Rense: Don’t suppose there will be a big tourist push this season into Fukushima..?

Yoichi Shimatsu: Well the Japanese government is pushing tourism like crazy and people are foolish enough to visit. My travel agent in Hong Kong told me that a lot of people gone over, only to Osaka to southern part of ??? Island and one lady went over there. She was very careful about the diet and all that but you know enjoyed Japanese food, she came back, she’s about 26 years old, office worker.

She came back, this is what my travel agent told me. She wasn’t felling very good, stomach wasn’t felling too good, her head was woozy, went to the doctor and the doctor told her, you can’t have a baby for the next 3 years.. That was his diagnosis.

Jeff Rense: That’s a smart doctor..

Yoichi Shimatsu: Japanese government inviting people over there where they’re eating the food, drinking the water, breathing the air and they are coming down with conditions where women can not have babies for many years...

Transcribed part:

Jeff Rense: Fukushima radiation as it has covered and continues to cover and impact north of America and the northern hemisphere. Hello MC and welcome back.

Michael Collins: Why thank you JR, I am pleased to be back and last week we did talk about some of these testing that we have been doing and here in Los Angeles we spoke about how the test that we have of the air here have not been impacted by Radon, that Radon progeny is not an issue here and we found very high amounts of Alpha and Beta radiation in the two test that you just posted.

Jeff Rense: They will be up in a couple of minutes, right.

Michael Collins: That’s right, and our theory we where talking about well if the rain isn’t bringing it here to southern California because of the 42 day period that we used those two HEPA filters a Westing house and Kenmore Plasma Wave. There was no rain and yet we got 538 percent above normal in the dust itself. The dust’s hot you can see it yourself folks it’s like.

Jeff Rense: OK 538, that means 5 times over normal or 4 times above normal a total of 5 anyway OK.

Michael Collins: 5.4 times normal…

Transcribed first minutes:

Jeff Rense: And we are back, “it’s a hot time in the old town tonight” probably a song that the Japanese don’t know but it would certainly serve their purposes and many of these cities on the main Island of Honshu, because radioactivity, radio nuclides are spreading all over nonstop. 70 Million Bequarels An Hour being released from the wrecked destroyed Fukushima plant.

Reactor building 4 leaning it’s traditional 15 degrees and starting to look more like the leaning tower of Pisa all the time. The Japanese are doing nothing to try and prop that building up, nothing substantial, they cant get near it.

The activity being generated by the spent fuel pool and of course the ruined reactor which was NOT as TEPCO told us empty. And being refueled, it was full, it was triggered in fact to start back online the very morning of 03-11. They had to stop it because there was a broken pipe, just then the earthquake hit and all hell broke lose. And it is hell on earth.

Meanwhile reactor 2 has continually seen it’s temperatures go up, it went up 5 degrees.. 3 degrees? 3 degrees Celsius in 5 hours yesterday, it is very hot and getting hotter and they the authorities don’t know what’s causing it. Let me tell you though that reactor building 4 with it’s destroyed spent fuel pool the SFP, 3 stories, 4 stories up in the air. When that comes crashing down it is full of destroyed fuel rods, these fuel roods of course some are brand new, some are used. The used rods pose more of an danger than the new ones, so when the SFP at reactor building 4 hits the ground it will go critical immediately. It will literally turn into a nuclear pier of death, it will spew unbelievable amounts of Plutonium and everything that you can, probably 100s of different Radioisotopes will be thrown into the air. Into the ocean and according to one worker at the plant within one year that building is coming down, no more than that.

Because the neutron activity is literally destroying the structural integrity of the building. It’s weakening everything, it’s degrading it, it will fall. And when it does, he said the entire east coast of Japan that’s facing us and the west coast of the United States will become uninhabitable.

How will it become uninhabitable? It will become uninhabitable because of all along the shoreline the wave action creates vapor, aerosolized droplets of nuclear death. That also of course brings the issue of evaporation which turns into clouds, which moves in storm systems across the ocean and on to the land depositing it’s deadly cargo there. So when building 4 goes down, and that spent fuel pool goes critical, folks you better start wearing masks all the time and you still got time to get covers for your gardens or you wont be the one to garden out there…
Transcribed part:

Yoichi Shimatsu: Hello Jeff, hear you had some problem with people ?? on your reporting on Fukushima which mystifies me because it’s one of the most consistent and full coverage out there with a very wide diverse range of opinion so, don’t know what they are complaining about. But I’m afraid it wont have any basis really in anything factual.

Jeff Rense: No it really doesn’t and we have mentioned virtually every scenario I can go back to Benjamin Fullford appearance on the program here, and what Ben proposed was that two nuclear warheads from the submarine Kursk.. The submarine Kursk? Yes, under the nose of the Russian navy where stolen and brought to Japan and dropped down the bore hole pipe 10 inches in diameter of a drilling ship off Fukushima. That’s one. Another person suggested the US navy went there with a submarine and dropped down a couple of nukes in the trench and lit them off. Another person suggest it was the Israeli who went over in one of their German Diesel Electric Submarines and lit off a nuke down there to get even with Japan for some fantasized crime or other. Look folks, Japan is the known earthquake capital of the known universe, OK. Earthquakes happen all the time. Anyway Yoichi, yeah a very small number of people like a handful or less decided to make a big issue of this and rather than approach it journalistically it has been done in such a way as to clearly be liableness and character deformation of the most ugly variety but that’s the way of the internet and you know we do our best.

Transcribed first minute:

Jeff Rense: Ok and welcome back, it’s time to do our Monday update with Michael Collins of enviroreporter dot com he and Denise running things in Santa Monica trying to keep handle on the situation of Fukushima Radiation coming here continually, either via the Jet stream or the lower altitude air flow currents and moisture bands that come across and of course via the Pacific Ocean. And it’s ocean currents which are like a very sophisticated circulatory system which have brought these materials, all kinds of deadly radionuclides over here for many, many months now. All up and down the west coast, up into the golf of Alaska, will you hear anything from the Environmental “Protection Agency” ? Not a chance. Hello Michael and welcome back.

Transcribed first minute:

Jeff Rense: OK and we are back and it’s time to spend an hour of this week with Michael Collins and get a good look at what is happening here and of course over in Japan. The open wound on the surface of the earth which continue to spew radioactive death, unfortunately at a level that is still now being finally understood by the greater portion of the Japanese people and the American people as well.

Transcribed first minute:

Jeff Rense: OK and welcome back we are going to spend some time in Japan this hour with Dr. Richard Wilcox he is an extraordinary man who has been doing the very best he can against virtually insurmountable odds to try and make the Japanese people aware of what their government is not telling them. And what it’s not telling them is down right horrific. We saw this story two days ago that Tokyo many parts of it, has in fact radioactive levels 25 times higher than the mandatory evacuation zones around Chernobyl. Think about that. Trainstations, buildings, houses, streets. It does not matter, it’s everywhere to one degree or another but if they are getting readings 25 times higher than Chernobyl’s mandatory evacuation zones, WOW.

There is a lot of talk that the Japanese government in the beginning of the catastrophe a year ago this April the 11th didn’t know what to do. We know that, but what the talk is really suggesting is that the Japanese government was actively considering evacuating the city, I think it’s around 30 million people. Well obviously they should have and still probably should have, these people are just going to get sick and die in many cases. So lets go over to Japan right now and welcome to the program...

Transcribed:

Jeff Rense: Ok here we are and lets go over to Hong Kong and say hello to our friend and colleague Yoichi Shimatsu who has contributed so very, very much to our understanding and I think more than that even our empathy to the people and the, well the whole culture that has been decimated and will continue to show more and more signs of imploding, the Japanese culture in the months and years ahead. It is a living tragedy unfolding before our eyes in living color. Unfortunately most of us over here in this country will never get to see it unless you are watching this particular website or listening to this program because of the Zionist nuclear regulatory commission and all the other Zionist entities here block the news out almost entirely. Yoichi hello and welcome back..

Transcribed first minute:

Early Fallout Map from March 21, 2011 (Not the one talked about on show)
Jeff Rense: OK and welcome back let me take our weekly look at the ongoing Fukushima nuclear catastrophe, it is an open nuclear bomb spewing death literally around the northern hemisphere and the southern hemisphere. And if you saw the map that we had up yesterday at rense dot com or the day before, I think it was 3 days all together. You saw the radioactive hot particle that blanketed these formally United States most Americans either inhaled or ate them.

They went into the soil, remember they have long half lives. They were up taken by the plants or they where simply on the plants and people ate them. That’s the worst, you can get them on your arms and wash them off sometimes, but when you inhale or eat them, that sets of in many people a time bomb of death. Many Americans are going to die, millions, maybe 10s of millions. It only takes one particle, you saw the map it was no joke. We have been lied to, deceived, betrayed by our alleged government. We are expendable. Michael Collins is with us tonight..

Geiger Counters - Radiation Detection Meters - Handheld Radiation Detector

When it comes to radiation detection meters you really have a wide field of gadgets to choose from, however radiation detectors are the most common to use. First of all if you need to know what type of radiation you are looking for. There are Alpha, Beta and Gamma radiation detectors. And also there is neutron emission of nuclear radiation. And all these different types of emissions have radiation detectors for a specific type of radiation that you can buy radiation detector for. Some also measure both Alpha and Beta. Others detect Alpha, Beta and Gamma. While others let you measure Beta and Gamma radiation.

What most people have use for though are Dosimeters you can buy a handheld radiation detector pretty cheap that are good addition to a survival kit. There are different kinds that you can use that will detect radiation. There are radiation badges that will tell you when radiation become high. Workers at nuclear power plants use these to inform them of how much radiation they have been exposed to. Now also children in the Fukushima prefecture have each been given a radiation badge so they know if they are exposed to radiation. Some come in the shape of a pen that you can carry in your pocket while other are made more compact so that you can attach them to your keychain. And then you have what is called a personal radiation monitor. These are also called Dosimeters and also normally called Geiger counters. Although not all use the Geiger-Muller Tube for the radiation detection some use a semiconductor instead. These and mostly the older geiger counters seen are pretty big to carry around, so they might not be best suited for a survival situation where you only need to carry the most important things. However if you have land and want to check radiation around the property and drinking water then these are the geiger counters to get because they are very well built units.

These are the once that you normally see people use. They have different units of radiation detection, because when it comes to radiation there are many standards used. some give the measurements in Rads, while other use Sieverts. Some have the maximum radiation value for the measured radioactivity quite low but they will still give you an idea of the amount of radiation in the area. With the units ranging from between background radiation 0.001 mSv/hr all the way up to 10 Sv/h. Normally a dosimeter will measure radiation in micro siverts per hour. If you were to walk into one of the reactor units at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Plant you probably would get an error reading from your dosimeter because the radiation levels are so high there.

Note that some places outside the exclusion zone in Fukushima that are too radioactive for people to live in have areas where the radiation levels are above 30 Sv/h. So if you are in a area that have high radiation the radiation detectors would also there go off the scale. However Geiger counters or radiation detectors are still favored as general purpose alpha/beta/gamma portable radiation detectors and radiation detection equipment, due to their low cost and robustness. Most come with an LCD Display that show you the radioactivity in the area. Nowdays you will even get alarm sound and the possibility to connect the device to a computer. Either with a Infrared, Bluetooth or USB connection.

So if you look at the radiation detectors for sale that have this, then these radiation detection meters will allow you to make maps of contaminated areas that show where the radiation is high and low. This also will help you to see which areas are becoming more contaminated over time. With several nuclear reactors in the US and around the world located near fault zones that makes it a danger if a big earthquake would hit the area there is always a good choice to have a radiation dosimeter avaliable. I'm sure many in Fukushima would have been grateful to have dosimeters avaliable at the time of the disaster and I am sure you to would be grateful to have a geiger counter handy when you need one.
